Militia Christi :: [15:05:47]Situation 1
A group of men kicking a leather ball up and down a field in an attempt to score by placing it within the other teams net.
Situation 2
Tens of thousands of warriors arming themselves for battle then travelling to another country so that they can slaughter, rape, pillage and generally behave like cunts because this other country has a different religion to you.
In case you didn't notice, situation 1 is that thing that invaded my TV lately, known as football. Situation 2 on the other hand is known as the Crusades and took place from around 1000 onwards. The reason I gave such horrendously simplistic representations of these two items together is simple. Just to show how entirely and utterly unrelated they are. Did it work? I hope so. Now if someone would be so kind as to explain why everytime I see football fans on the TV there is always at least one dressed like a crusading knight. Usually more than one. Quitely frankly I don't see how an attempt to force somewhere to convert to Christianity or die is relevant to football. It wasn't all that long ago that Prince Harry was in the media for wearing a vaguely Nazi-esque outfit at a costume party. Poor kid got so much stick for that it's unreal but to wander around the streets dressed as a murderer is somehow fine if you are a normal person and apparently a football fan. Nope, sorry, I'm still not managing to understand this one. I'm pretty good at figuring things out but this one has escaped my attention. I wonder what would happen if I started dressing like a stereotypical suicide bomber. Oh I'm aware such an image doesn't entirely exist but it wouldn't be hard to guess at something very close to one. I would imagine people would be outraged and shocked and probably very very angry. I imagine people would say that dressing as someone who kills innocent people for partially religious reasons is wrong. Umm yeah.. I agree, it is wrong. So stop fucking doing it. I'm not sure if these people dress in such a way because they are just so incredibly fucking damn ignorant that they can't help it or what, but for the love of christ could someone please educate them?
Oh and before I get complaint e-mails, I am aware that the livery in question is not entirely associated with the crusades and was used excessively and thoroughly during other periods of time, but on an international stage and setting the Crusades are the most widely known example so deal with it. Things get a reputation for specific things whether they wish to or not, it's just the way shit goes down.
