:: [21:56:24]Have you ever watched Bad Lads Army? No? Ok, it's a TV show where they take a group of 'bad lads' and put them through 1950's British Army, Paratrooper training. The premise of the show is good. It stands to reason that past style military training in its fundamentally British manner would make men of criminals. I've watched this show a few times, but never twice in a row. Why? Because quite honestly the 'bad lads' just arn't bad enough to be worth considering. In fact, they are somewhat pathetic. They are like errant children or mild thugs. The programme loses a lot of its power when the criminals in it are nothing special. If you want the show to be interesting and you want to prove that the training does indeed make men of boys then you need to use real criminals. I understand that obviously bringing murderers or other such hardcore villains out of prison is so far removed from a good idea that the two haven't even heard of each other. But that doesn't mean they have to have such petty criminals as fences and drunken brawlers. I mean come on.. If the best you can offer is people that steal cars, shoplift or get in fights when they get drunk then why bother? Petty criminals at best. Small time. Oh well I guess you can't have it all. Watch the program if you like, it's quite funny to watch the little wimps break under pressure or fail to carry out tasks.
